This panel analyzes genes associated primarily with adult-onset, non-syndromic hereditary predisposition to cancer, including cancers of the breast, ovary, uterus, prostate, and gastrointestinal system.

Because these cancer types can have significant genetic heterogeneity, clinical characteristics, personal history, and family history alone may not always be sufficient to identify the underlying genetic cause. The overlapping clinical features of hereditary cancer conditions can make it challenging to determine which specific gene may be responsible based solely on the patient's presentation.
